Support
Due to the high costs and large time commitments necessary to conduct post-conviction examinations of biological and other evidence, the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project needs your help to keep helping innocent people convicted in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
To date, we have received more than 2700 requests for help from prisoners and their families in our region. We are currently receiving an average of five new requests per day. Our staff consists of one full-time and one part-time attorney. We have no administrative personnel, no investigators, and no attorneys who can devote themselves full time to litigating meritorious cases. We thus rely heavily on students and attorneys to help us process and investigate our cases.
If you are a student or lawyer in the Mid-Atlantic region and would like to volunteer with our organization, please go to our Volunteer page for more information.
The Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project is always looking for volunteers in any capacity, so don’t be shy! We need administrators, researchers, tech help, and organizers! Any kind of skills you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Please visit our Volunteer page to sign up and obtain more information.
If you don’t have the time to volunteer in person, you can help from anywhere. Take action by writing letters to local newspapers, governors, and legislators regarding your concerns about our nation’s judicial system and wrongfully imprisoned individuals. Or, you can help us continue our work by making a financial contribution.
The Innocence Project relies on support from individuals, schools, and law firms in order to keep working. We appreciate any and all contributions, no matter how small.
