Request Help

Before sending the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project a request, you should first read our list of Frequently Asked Questions to see if you are someone we can help. If your case meets the criteria, please send us a letter about your case as well as the Screening Questionnaire. Please note that the questionnaire should be filled out by the prisoner-not by a family member or friend. Completed questionnaires should be mailed to:

Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project
 4801 Massachusetts Ave., NW
Washington DC, 20016

Please print clearly. Any information you send will be kept confidential. You should expect that such information will be shared with law students, attorneys, and investigators only to the extent necessary to obtain or provide legal or investigative assistance for you. Please also understand that we may contact your former and/or current attorneys for information about your case.

When can I expect a response?

Once we receive the questionnaire, it will take our office some time to evaluate it, and you may not hear from us right away Please do not telephone or write additional letters asking about your case. We will be in touch with you about your case as soon as possible. Because of the large volume of requests, it may take months before we are able to decide whether to accept a case.  Please be patient.
