2013 was MAIP’s most successful year to date – with four exonerations, no innocence organization obtained more exonerations than MAIP, even though we receive less than one percent of the funds that go to innocence work. Unfortunately, 2013 was also a year in which we lost both federal funding and funding for an Equal Justice Works fellow. We are lucky to have committed supporters that have allowed us to retain our staffing level, but those losses have left us struggling to fund the DNA testing, experts, document research, and investigative travel that have allowed us to thoroughly investigate and litigate our cases. We therefore need your support so we can continue to obtain such incredible results for our clients.
