“Virginia Seeks Uniform Rules on Police Lineups”

On December 8, the Virginia State Crime Commission will decide whether or not to push  forward a potentially game-changing bill for the future of criminal justice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The bill will include a procedural model for photo spreads and police lineups that is meant to prevent misidentifications, and subsequently, wrongful convictions. Though the model for such consistency was built five years ago, many police departments throughout Virginia are still without a uniform policy. Here’s hoping that this necessarily model is implemeted to ensure that innocent individuals like Thomas Haynesworth are no longer the victims of inaccurate eyewitness IDs. Read the full article in…
